Matthew F. Bates is an Associate of Barnes & Barnes, P.C. and is admitted in both New York and New Jersey. Mr. Bates conducts legal research, engages in document review and discovery production, and drafts memoranda and affidavits in support of various motions. His background in Business Management has served an asset in evaluating many of the financial components of discovery and damages related to the Firm’s commercial litigation practice.
Prior to joining Barnes & Barnes, P.C., Mr. Bates earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law in June 2010, finishing with a 3.55 GPA. During his tenure at St. John’s, Mr. Bates was a Dean’s List Graduate and the Managing Editor of the N.Y. Litigator journal. At graduation, Mr. Bates was awarded the Wann Family Foundation Award for Excellence in Business Planning.
At the undergraduate level, Mr. Bates earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management, magna cum laude, from Stony Brook University in 2007, achieving a 3.83 GPA.
